Since 2004, the industrial department of the national development and Reform Commission and China Machine Tool Industry Association have started to work out the "special plan for the development of CNC machine tools". On September 28, 2005, the State Council adopted several opinions on accelerating the revitalization of equipment manufacturing industry, in which the development of CNC machine tools was listed as the key. On February 9, 2006, the State Council issued the outline of the national medium and long term science and technology development plan (2006-2020). Advanced manufacturing industry was listed as a priority area, and high-end CNC machine tools and basic manufacturing technology were listed as one of the 16 major special projects. Recently, Zeng Peiyan, vice premier of the State Council, stressed that the revitalization of the equipment manufacturing industry "should reflect the will of the state" when he talked about "several opinions on accelerating the revitalization of the equipment manufacturing industry". Above all, we do see the "national will" of the state in accelerating the development of CNC machine tools, and various policies and measures really make people full of hope for the development of CNC machine tool industry. However, to build a strong manufacturing country, we need not only CNC machine tools, but also advanced cutting tools, both of which are of equal importance. The policy support and investment of the state for the development of CNC machine tools are gratifying. But if we don't seize this opportunity to develop cutting tools and cutting technology rapidly, I'm afraid that the progress of CNC machine tools will still be restricted by cutting tools in the future. After all, in the process of machining, the real direct effect with the object to be processed is the tool. The tool and cutting technology affect the function of the machine tool. If the top-grade machine tools and equipment leave the advanced tool and cutting technology, they may not be able to realize the dream of making a strong country.
